NFL Power Rankings Week 10: Looking at Teams with Most Momentum

Chris TrapassoNov 8, 2011

The Cincinnati Bengals started the year 1-2. Now they're on top of the entire AFC.

Jim Harbaugh's San Francisco 49ers were 1-1 after two weeks. They're now the NFC's No. 2 seed and have a five game lead in their division after winning six straight.

The Green Bay Packers haven't lost all season.

What do these teams have that everyone else wants?

Momentum.

These are three of the the teams that are really humming.

Cincinnati Bengals

Andy Dalton is making a push at the Rookie of the Year award. He's playing as calm and collective as he did during his tenure as TCU's quarterback. He has 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions on the season.

The defense is playing near the level it did in 2009 when Cincinnati swept the AFC North and won the division.

Nevermind all the theories that teams can't win with a rookie quarterback.

With an enormous four game stretch against divisional foes, we'll see if the AFC's current No. 1 seed can keep their momentum rolling.

Houston Texans

Three weeks ago, at 4-3, we were wondering if the Texans were going to squander the best opportunity they've ever had to win the AFC South.

Andre Johnson was hurt and Mario Williams was just lost for the season.

Since then, they've played inspired football and are winners of three straight including a road victory over the Tennessee Titans.

Arian Foster has rebounded after an early season hamstring injury and Houston looks to have the most consistent running attack in the AFC thanks to their zone blocking scheme.

A win on Sunday in Tampa could give them a comfortable lead in the AFC South.

San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers have won a whopping six-straight games with the same game plan. Run and stop the run. It's a cliche San Fran is living by and it's working, so why change it.

Patrick Willis is again playing at an All-Pro level, as is Frank Gore

The most impressive piece of coaching by Jim Harbaugh so far has been how he's worked with Alex Smith.

The former No. 1 overall selection is managing games and limiting mistakes, perfect for the 49ers system.

Green Bay Packers

Can't forget the defending Super Bowl champs. They are 8-0 after all. Aaron Rodgers is simply put, the man.

I mean, 24 touchdowns and only three interceptions. 72.5 completion percentage?

Total awesomeness.
