NFL Week 10 Predictions: Projecting the Top Fantasy Football Performances

Andrea HangstNov 8, 2011

A good matchup and a proven history of success are in concert in Week 10 for three players known to be serious fantasy football studs this season. They'll have great days for their respective teams and for your fantasy team, should you be fortunate enough to have one of them on your roster.

QB Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers (vs. Minnesota Vikings)

Aaron Rodgers has been one of the most reliable, most explosive fantasy football players of the season, quarterback or otherwise.

He's completed 72.5 percent of his passes for the year, with that number being above 80 for the past two weeks. He has 2,619 yards on the season for 24 scores to just three interceptions and appears to just get better every week.

Last week against the San Diego Chargers, a team known to field a strong defense, he completed 21 of 26 passes for 247 yards and four touchdowns, and rushed for another 52 yards.

There's just no stopping Rodgers, which bodes well for his chances not just this week against the Minnesota Vikings but for every week ahead.

Throw out everything you may think you know about the Vikings defense; they have no chance to put an end to Rodgers' dominance this week. Another four-touchdown performance isn't a tall order for the NFL's most accurate passer this Sunday.

RB Maurice Jones-Drew, Jacksonville Jaguars (at Indianapolis Colts)

If there's one rule of thumb for fantasy GMs this season, it's to start any player one has if he's slated to face the Colts, and this week that rule applies to Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew.

Last week, the Colts gave up 71 yards and a score on 19 carries to the Atlanta Falcons' Michael Turner, and his backups Jason Snelling and Jacquizz Rodgers added another 59 on the ground in the 31-7 rout.

With Jones-Drew accounting for far more of his team's overall offense than Turner, look for him to rush and receive for more total yardage than Turner, Snelling and Rodgers achieved combined.

That means a 150-plus yardage day with at least two touchdowns are in his future against the last-in-the-league Colts in Week 10.

WR Wes Welker, New England Patriots (at New York Jets)

Patriots receiver Wes Welker is by far Tom Brady's favorite target this season, with 66 catches for 960 yards and six scores to his name so far.

He's proven that no matter the situation, he can be relied upon to get open and make the big play, and that trend will continue this week as the team plays division rivals, the New York Jets, on Sunday night.

While Welker will be relegated to Revis Island much of the night, that won't likely phase him nor deter Brady's efforts; in the teams' first meeting in Week 5, Welker pulled down five passes for 124 yards. And as the Patriots' only truly dominant receiver in last week's loss to the New York Giants, he caught nine for 136.

Another 100-plus yard game is on tap for Welker, especially as his team tries to dig their way out of the two-loss hole they've found themselves in. If there's any game for the Patriots to display their offensive fire, it's this one. Look for Welker to dominate the fantasy standings yet again.
