NFL Week 10: Super Bowl Contenders Doomed To Fail

T.J. McaloonNov 8, 2011

We are heading into the final stretch of games of the NFL season and it’s looking a lot clearer as to which teams are going to still be around when the season heads into the months of January and February.

However, even though these teams are playing great, they will suffer a set back this week.

San Diego may not be the best team in the AFC, as they suffered two crushing losses in the last two weeks. Their offense is one of the few that could keep up with a juggernaut like the Green Bay Packers, but it’s their defense that will be their Achilles' heel.

It’s why this week they will fall to the visiting Oakland Raiders and their two headed monster of a rushing attack, in Darren McFadden and Michael Bush.

Dallas Cowboys

Dallas won last week against Seattle, so in the media’s eyes and in their fans' eyes, they are back to being Super Bowl contenders. They do sit in a great spot, just one game out of a wild card birth and with two games remaining against the first-placed New York Giants.

But, they will be dealt a crushing blow to their postseason dreams, as Fred Jackson and the Buffalo Bills will run all over them.

New England Patriots

The Pats are on a sinking ship, that will take on even more water this week as they face the intense pass rush of the New York Jets. Pats fans can expect more of what they have seen in the past two weeks, as the Jets defense will send wave after wave after wave of blitzing defenders after Brady.

Three teams all with a great chance at playing in this year’s Super Bowl will take a step back this week. But, the million dollar question is, will they be able to recover going forward?
