Tim Tebow: How Much Longer Will the Denver Bronco Last as a Starting QB?

Scott L. HutchinsonNov 9, 2011

Since being named the Denver Broncos' starting quarterback just three weeks ago, Tim Tebow has been the talk of the NFL.

The primary question: Can he really be taken seriously as a starting QB?

Tebow's style of play is completely unorthodox, frequently sloppy and even straight-up ugly at times, but somehow he has been able to lead Denver to two victories in his three games as their starter. So, how much longer can No. 15 last as a starting quarterback in the NFL?

Longer than you might think.

His Game Is Developing

1 of 4

He may never become a top-tier precision passer in the NFL, but Tim Tebow has shown signs of improvement in his short time in the league.

While he still has that trademark awkward release and a knack for missing open targets, he has shown the ability to read opposing defenses and limit costly mistakes, if nothing else.

He's never going to be Tom Brady, but it may still be too early to say that Tebow will never become a legitimate NFL quarterback.

After all, mobile QBs are becoming more and more common in the league today and Tebow's ability to make plays with his feet has never been questioned.

His Leadership Is Evident

Tebow is such an animated and diehard leader that it is almost funny at times.

That said, it's hard to deny the positive impact that he has had on Denver's typically unriveting offense. He has given the entire Broncos community something to be excited about, and his presence under center has resulted in two close Denver victories.

He's easy to make fun of, but there may just be a method to Tebow's overly enthusiastic madness.

The Guy Can Sell Tickets

When it comes down to it, the NFL is a business and Tim Tebow is a ticket salesman's dream come true.

Even when the Broncos are on the road, opposing fans flock to the stadium just to see No. 15 do his thing.

Denver has been selling tickets like crazy since Tebow was named the starter, and if nothing else, keeping the iconic Gator gunslinger under center makes sense from a financial standpoint.

It's All About the W

Say what you will about Tebow, but the fact of the matter is that Denver is 2-1 since naming him its starter.

Isn't that all that really matters?

Sure, he is undoubtedly one of the league's worst quarterbacks statistically speaking, but he finds ways to win ball games.

Until he stops producing it will be hard for head coach John Fox to stick him back on the sidelines. Look for Tebow to remain Denver's starter for at least the remainder of the 2011 season.
