WWE Raw Review: Top 10 Moments from Last Night's Lousy Show
Let me make a few notes first:
1. I am the most positive person you will ever meet (or read). I just don't care to whine and complain over things about something I love. Especially doing it each and every day!
2. I loved last week's WWE Raw show. I gave it an "A+" grade. This week will fall in the "C-" range. Pretty bad, but not offensively bad like "WCW 2011" on Thursdays on Spike TV.
3. I will try to keep this as positive as possible, but I am warning everybody now! I really did not enjoy this show too much...
Reminder: I am now on Twitter @JustinWatry, accepting all followers! Thank you!
10. Eve Is the No. 1 Contender, Right?
1 of 10I am all for Kelly Kelly promoting her new magazine cover. I am all for that! It is a huge deal for her, and she should be proud of her accomplishment.
Sadly, Eve is the current No. 1 contender to Divas Champion Beth Phoenix, which was totally lost in all of this. When is that match taking place? Why was Eve not the focus? Even Alicia Fox was hanging around! Is there some sort of tag match coming at the next PPV show?
I don't even know what else to say here. I love the divas, but this was all confusing. This needs to be cleared up on SmackDown...
9. Why Did Dolph Ziggler Lose?
2 of 10Yes! John Morrison won a match! Surely, he is set to receive a huge push. I knew his losing streak was all a part of a much "bigger plan."
Not only is he going to be the next United States Champion, he will win the Royal Rumble and become WWE Champion at WrestleMania 28! I can''t wait for this man to rise up and make a huge splash in the upper ranks of WWE! He truly is the next big star...
(ends sarcastic celebrating)
OK, back to reality! Morrison won a match. I yawned, and the show continued...
8. Not Again WWE!
3 of 10Watch that video! It clearly reads "NEXT WEEK" over and over. Well, what happened?
Nothing.
WWE did this last week with the "Michael Cole Challenge," and I was none too happy about it. I feel the same way this week.
Do not hype something and not deliver! I do not care if plans changed. I do not care if time got cut short. I do not care. I really do not like wrestling "bait and switch" segments on television.
7. CM Punk Needs to Stop
4 of 10The "insider" promos needs to stop. I am pointing at CM Punk here. Whether it is his boss or himself doing this, he needs to stop.
It was cool back in July. It was still kind of cool in August. Now, I don't care.
It is losing its effect, and the majority of the audience simply doesn't understand the witty lines. The internet may go crazy for every "pipe bomb," but it is such a small minority of the WWE Universe.
Again, it is a broad statement, but I am focusing on Punk here. It needs to stop. Get back to being a face wanting to beat up a heel. It is that simple...
6. Nash Did a Nice Job
5 of 10I like Kevin Nash. He is fine in small doses. A big match every couple months is fine by me. His promos need more energy, but he is pretty good.
This week on WWE Raw, he was great! I loved his promo. He added some history to the Royal Rumble earlier this year, as well as explained his actions. All the while he walked the line of being "too insider," unlike CM Punk as of late.
Triple H is still out of action. Kevin Nash is still under WWE contract. Johnny Ace is still in the middle stirring the pot. Nice story here...
5. Squash Matches Are Fun
6 of 10Mason Ryan beat JTG.
Jack Swagger beat Santino.
Both were nice wins. I classify them as squash matches. Other may not, but I do. Ryan is still a work in progress, while Swagger is one major story from becoming a huge star.
I prefer one squash match per show, but this was fine here. It was clear there wasn't much material for WWE Raw, so they were buying time...
4. Kofi Loses
7 of 10Not only did the current United States champion lose, one half of the WWE Tag Team champions did as well. I made the same point last week, and I will again.
Champions shouldn't lose more often than they win. Sometimes, a "non-title" match can work wonders. However, it is becoming bothersome.
On that same note, I am totally against Air Boom keeping the tag straps right now. Evan Bourne is out for 30 days, and Kofi Kingston is going at it alone for the time being.
WWE should have stripped them of the gold or had them drop the belts last week. I am against a suspended performer keeping a title. Just doesn't seem right...
3. Del Rio Stood Tall
8 of 10Alberto Del Rio had a great night as WWE Champion. Punk was too busy insulting Del Rio with insider terms, but Alberto was the star of their segments.
I still have no doubt CM Punk gets the title at the end of this feud, but Del Rio looked very strong tonight. He destroyed Kofi, and he beat down Punk backstage. Wonderful showing for the WWE Champion!
2. Cena/Rock/Miz/Truth Drama
9 of 10The build to Survivor Series continued on WWE Raw, and it was pretty bland. The Rock returning to the ring after seven years needs to be focused on even more!
We all know he will get plenty of spotlight next Monday night, but I am not "feeling" the buzz yet. Next week better be a major improvement because I need more from these four men.
Miz and Truth got a tainted win in the main event this week, and it meant next to nothing. Like I said, I assume next week will be three hours of nonstop Rock (Survivor Series) hype, but this week needed more.
I just didn't sense The Rock was coming back to wrestle in less than two weeks. I couldn't get into this show and its build for the PPV. I didn't even read the spoilers for the rare taped Raw, so I can't even blame it on that. Just something felt off...
1. Zack Ryder Doesn't Belong
10 of 10This was my main problem with the show. Zack Ryder has no business being anywhere near a WWE main event right now. He just doesn't...
He is one step above Santino on the "comedy mic card act" ladder. He is right next to CM Punk on catering to the internet crowd too much.
By the way, isn't Ryder feuding with Dolph Ziggler? Isn't there a United State title match he is set to receive at Survivor Series? This whole night night just seemed backwards!
I like Ryder. I really do. His "Woo Woo Woo" gimmick definitely needs to stop if he ever plans to make a main event run. His Youtube series is doing more harm than good these days.
The "You Know it" and the "Broskis" catchphrases won't last much longer either. He just needs a little bit of a character change. Him main eventing with Cena tonight was a joke. That is what I took it as. It felt like watching a house show from a Saturday afternoon in a small town in front of 5,000 fans.
The live crowd loved it. People cheered, and Ryder got some footage for his next online episode. Like I said, Santino may as well have been in this spot tonight. It's the same thing...
Sorry, but this guy is great in the mid card right now. He is slowly getting over to the masses. He is nowhere near that now. His fans are loyal and devoted, but a main event level performer teaming with John Cena? No way!
