WWE Monday Night Raw SuperShow: The Best 5 Moments of the Night
The WWE Monday Night Raw SuperShow was in full effect last night, and Bleacher Report is here to break down the five best moments from the show.
With less than two weeks to the highly anticipated Survivor Series pay-per-view, fans were skeptical as to whether or not a pre-taped show in England would deliver a fun and relevant show. The doubts were silenced early as Raw was filled with a solid balance of wrestling and promos, and enough relevancy to keep most people from writing the show off as filler.
Kevin Nash spoke out for the first time since beating down Triple H with a sledgehammer two weeks ago on Raw, cutting a spiteful promo on his former friend.
CM Punk was dropping pipe bombs left and right, refusing to give up his title match against Alberto Del Rio at Survivor Series. Then finally, in the main event of Raw, John Cena teamed up with Zack Ryder against Awesome Truth.
These three moments, and more, were entertaining, but which moment came out on top? Check out the following slides to see how we ranked the five best moments of the night, then sound off in the comment section with your personal picks!
John Morrison Finds His Way Back into the Win Column
1 of 5A clean victory over a current champion is not something you give to a man who's supposed to be on his way out of the company.
In the opening match of Raw, John Morrison took on United States Champion Dolph Ziggler in a decent match that many expected would end with the champion's hand raised in victory.
Morrison overcame a referee distraction by Vickie Guerrero, and the skills of Ziggler, to get a roll up victory after putting on an entertaining performance.
It's possible that WWE just felt like surprising the fans with a JoMo win, but I doubt it. Also of note, the crowd was really into Ziggler, he really turned it on by taunting Morrison as he was down in the middle of the match.
Kelly Kelly Shows off Maxim Cover, Doesn't Wrestle
2 of 5Kelly Kelly was looking sexy as ever as she was set to unveil her Maxim cover.
Beth Phoenix and Natalya attempted to spoil the party with lame Barbie taunts, but were quickly chased off.
Between the stunning cover shot of her, and the fact that there was no Divas match tonight, this absolutely makes it into my top five moments of the night.
Kevin Nash Has No Regrets About Crushing Triple H
3 of 5Big Daddy Cool is doing his best to be Big Daddy Cruel, and isn't doing too bad at it either.
John Laurinaitis introduced Kevin Nash and allowed him to take the ring and explain his actions from two weeks ago, where he injured Triple H in a brutal sledgehammer beat down.
Nash said he didn't like Triple H when they first met, but Shawn Michaels convinced him to let Hunter into the Kliq.
Nash's big excuse for the beating of his former friend was that he got no love from him after getting the "biggest pop of the night" at the Royal Rumble earlier this year.
It sounds silly on paper, but I honestly believe this was the best promo Nash has cut since his return to WWE.
Zack Ryder Shines While Teaming with John Cena
4 of 5Zack Ryder is over, ladies and gentlemen.
Ryder finally got to have his tag match with John Cena against Awesome Truth, and he received the greatest crowd reaction of the match.
Not only did Ryder and Cena hit a double Broski Boot, they also hit a double Five Knuckle Shuffle. Both were performed well, and received a great response from the fans.
The match itself wasn't particularly memorable, but watching Ryder's career pick up right before our eyes has been very cool. With rumors of his United States title shot being granted at Survivor Series, Ryder may be capturing WWE gold sooner rather than later.
CM Punk Buries Alberto Del Rio in a Brutal Promo
5 of 5WWE allowed CM Punk to step up to the WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio, and call him one dimensional on the microphone, and uninteresting.
Wow.
Alberto Del Rio smashed Kofi Kingston in singles competition, and was greeted by Punk shortly after the victory. Del Rio told Punk to give up his title shot at Survivor Series, and before Punk said no, he tore Del Rio to shreds.
Punk stated that fans could simply fast forward their DVR's every time Del Rio spoke, and they'd miss nothing at all. It stings because it's true.
The confrontation ended with Del Rio attacking Punk, and Ricardo Rodriguez jumping Punk only to eat a GTS as Del Rio escaped.
The crowd in Liverpool was in total support of Punk, and popped big time for him. It's amazing how the atmosphere can make even simple promos so much more memorable and entertaining.
