TNA Wrestling: TNA Enters into Agreement with Ohio Valley Wrestling
TNA Wrestling announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Ohio Valley Wrestling in Louisville, Ky. to have OVW serve as the company's developmental territory.
OVW was a developmental territory for World Wrestling Entertainment for almost nine years, from 2000-2008, before WWE ended the relationship and started FCW as their new developmental territory.
The TNA press release states that OVW owner Danny Davis will work closely with TNA
senior vice president Bruce Prichard in the training process. Pritchard was with WWE during the time OVW was a developmental territory for them.
OVW has had talent in TNA before. Current OVW Ladies Champion Lady Jojo wrestled in TNA as Sojourner Bolt and former OVW Ladies Champion Izza Belle Smothers was briefly in TNA as Moose Knuckles. Anarquia, one-half of the TNA World Tag Champs, wrestled under the name Lowrider in OVW and was the Heavyweight champion there.
PWinsider has reported recently that TNA has had its eyes on a couple of other OVW talents for their new project in India like Jamin Olivencia and Cliff Compton (formerly Domino in WWE).
TNA star Matt Morgan twittered this about the announcement.
""Ecstatic that TNA has new deal in place for OVW to be used as our developmental
"
system. That's where I trained as a list of who's who in wrestling today. We are very fortunate to have Danny Davis/OVW/trainers in helping our superstars of tomorrow"
It is unknown how this will affect OVW's current relationship with Ring of Honor. Ring of Honor taped sets of the their TV shows at OVWs Davis Arena in October and November and used a number of OVW talents.
OVW has a weekly television show that airs in Louisville and surrounding areas and does a great deal of touring in the Kentuckiana area.
