Pacquiao vs. Marquez Odds: Las Vegas Is Heavily Favoring Pac-Man

Jeremy ReidNov 9, 2011

Manny "Pac-Man" Pacquiao will square off with Juan Manuel Marquez for the third time this Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

It is supposed to be a fight in which Pacquiao will dominate the 38-year-old Marquez almost four years after he beat Marquez in a split decision their last time out.

Vegas oddsmakers see it no differently, having Pacquiao as a big favorite to win the fight.

According to Bodog.eu, Pacquiao's betting line is -1100 against Marquez on Saturday.

Pacquiao is highly favored most likely due to Marquez's age and the fact that they are fighting in the 147-pound welterweight division, although there is a catch weight of 144 pounds for this fight.

Since the split decision win over Marquez, Pacquiao has moved up in weight classes several times en route to setting the record for holding world titles in eight weight divisions.

He plateaued when he fought Antonio Margarita in the super welterweight division and won decisively despite having been 17 pounds less than his opponent.

Marquez has moved up from the super featherweight division in which he previously fought Pacquiao, but has looked slow in adding the extra weight.  He fought one welterweight bout against Floyd Mayweather Jr. and looked slow once again.

Of course, we're all expecting a war on the canvas similar to the last two bouts between these fighters.  Fans want that battle again, but they aren't putting their money on Marquez.

According to queensberry-rules.com, bettors are in favor of Pacquiao, 8-1 despite the very close decision win for Pacquiao in 2008.

In the last fight, the public was also betting in favor of Pacquiao, but only at a 2-1 margin.
