LSU Football Video: Watch Tigers' Mascot Trample Cheerleader Before Alabama Game
Mike the Tiger must have had one too many energy drinks before he charged out of the tunnel on Saturday before his LSU Tigers took on the Alabama Crimson Tide.
As shown in the video embedded above, LSU's mascot got a little ahead of himself, tripped and caused a multiple-cheerleader pileup. Right before the camera cuts away, he appears to struggle in getting back to his feet.
While mascot mishaps are not rare, they are almost always funny. People who work inside those costumes take their task seriously and most outsiders can't even imagine what the mascot is probably thinking as they go tumbling to the ground.
That's especially true for the Tiger, who knew Saturday's game was being called the “Game of the Century” and that a huge television audience would be looking on. Perhaps in a different era he would have survived with minimal embarrassment.
However, thanks to YouTube, the video is now available for eternal viewing. Ouch.
It's not all bad for Mike the Tiger, though. His team was able to overcome Alabama in overtime and maintained its undefeated record in the process. LSU appears well on its way to an appearance in the BCS National Championship Game, which will be Mike's chance to redeem himself.
And if he needs any inspiration, he can just watch himself crash and burn over and over and over again. That should be enough motivation to make sure his future endeavors are a lot more successful than Saturday.
One thing's for sure, his family will have a lot of fun at his expense at their next holiday gathering.
