College Football Recruiting 2012: 6 Recruits Set Up to Join Perfect Situations

Edwin WeathersbyNov 7, 2011

As a recruit looking around at various programs and offers, you always want to find the best situation possible for you. Now that doesn't always happen due to many other factors, but that's what it comes down to.

For this read, I've got six committed players that I feel are headed to not only great situations, but perfect situations. Whether it be a scheme/system fit or the way the depth chart stacks for them or something else, these are perfect situations for these six players.

Here they are.

Dominique Wheeler, WR

1 of 5

Texas Tech is a pass catcher's heaven. You have to give Tommy Tuberville some credit for keeping the wide open spread offense around in Lubbock.

Wheeler is slated to head to TT as a stud WR recruit and perhaps their biggest WR recruit since Michael Crabtree. The 6'1", 180-pounder has great deep speed and quickness.

So this is a perfect situation for him, as he should be able to put up some daunting numbers throughout his stay with the Red Raiders.

Dan Voltz, OG

2 of 5

Just as Texas Tech is a pass catcher's heaven, Wisconsin is the same for OLs. The Badgers invest heavily in their OL recruiting and do an awesome job of developing trench players, technique-wise and strength and conditioning-wise.

Dan Voltz comes in as a top-tier OG prospect, so his canvas has great skills already. Committing to Wisconsin was a shrewd move on his part as combined with talent, the development and coaching he'll get at Camp Randall should put him in the NFL one day.

Rushel Shell, RB

3 of 5

Big time RB recruits usually impact as true freshman. Rushel Shell is a big time RB recruit headed to Pitt. Sure, Ray Graham will likely return from his knee injury but Shell will get some carries.

With Graham's knee health being in question, look for Todd Graham to use Shell to spell Graham and take some wear and tear off his knee in 2012. Shell will undoubtedly use those carries to make some noise.

Plus he won't be far from home. Perfect situation.

Kent Taylor and Colin Thomspon, TEs

4 of 5

Both of these stud TEs are committed to Florida and this situation is golden for both. Thompson is the bigger, more physical tradition TE of of the two.

Taylor is a more athletic, pass catching type. With Charlie Weis having the NFL influence his playbook, traditionally you like to have a "move" guy or a "joker" as one TE, then you have your "blocking" or "in-line" guy as another.

Perfect. Thompson should become a great in-line TE at Florida, while Taylor will be the joker TE. This situation couldn't be be better for either one of them.

Reggie Ragland, LB

5 of 5

This is a pure system fit and I'll say this right now: Ragland is a perfect fit for Alabama's 3-4 defense as an ILB. There, I said it.

He's big, physical, takes on blocks, plugs the run and is instinctive. Ragland is not super-mega athletic, but he's not limited neither. 6'4", 245-pounds already in high school, Bama has their next Dont'A Hightower.

Raland can come in, learn the system, maybe even redshirt, then wreck havoc in a few seasons. Perfect fit.
