Keith Marshall: 5 Reasons He Should Head to Georgia over Notre Dame, Florida

Edwin WeathersbyNov 7, 2011

Keith Marshall is the top uncommitted RB prospect in the country. He seems to have a core three of Florida, Notre Dame and Georgia. Other schools like Virginia Tech, North Carolina, South Carolina and Clemson are in the race too.

I'm just going to take this chance to list five reasons why Marshall should head to Georgia over Florida and Notre Dame.

No, I'm not pro-Georgia and anti-the other schools. Just observing the pros of this hypothetical scenario.

5. Last Year's Recruiting Class

1 of 5

The Bulldogs did a great job last year in recruiting, hauling a fantastic class. The 2011 UGA class gives the Bulldogs a solid foundation moving forward.

With future stars like Ray Drew, Jay Rome, Malcolm Mitchell, Damian Swann and Christian LeMay, Marshall would undoubtedly have a chance to surround himself with some elite talent.

This has to be a point Marshall has at least thought about.

4. Mark Richt Should Be There

This point was so important for Marshall that he asked AD Greg McGarity about head coach Mark Richt's future. McGarity assured him that Richt will be at UGA for quite some time.

Marshall says he and Richt have a special relationship, and their conversations are about more than just being football.

Marshall being assured his boy Mark Richt will be there during his potential tenure in Athens has to be a huge pro for the Dawgs.

3. Been Rumored Lead School for Duration

Georgia has always been rumored as the leader for Marshall, probably based on his relationship with Richt.

It would be very tough to have built a great relationship with Richt, the Bulldog staff and family and then ultimately sign elsewhere. Although, Marshall and Georgia both know he must do what's best for him and his future.

Yet, with Georgia as his unofficial leader and key school, seeing him sign with UGA can easily be seen.

2. Not Too Far from His Raleigh, NC Home

4 of 5

Raleigh to Athens is about a six-hour drive, as opposed to the near nine-hour drive to Gainesville and all the way to South Bend.

Marshall wouldn't be too far from his family in Athens, and would be under good care. He'd still be in the South, but would be far enough from home to grow on his own, and still be able to keep relatively close to home.

1. Potential Dynamite Duo with Isaiah Crowell, Plus a Year or Two of Solo Load

5 of 5

We all know the impact that 2011 signee and true freshman RB Isaiah Crowell has had at UGA this season. Crowell has firmly planted himself as lead Dawg in the Bulldogs rushing attack.

Why not head to Athens and form a fantastic duo with Crowell? You stay fresh and both run for a ton of yards since each of you wouldn't be asked to carry the load by yourself.

Then, since you're a year younger than Crowell, whenever he leaves for the NFL, you would get a full year of solo work when you're older and more physically developed. It's a great opportunity if you really think about it.
