WWE News: Latest Update on Rey Mysterio, His Injury Status and WWE Return

In an all too familiar turn of events, WWE star Rey Mysterio suffered another serious knee injury back in August and has been out of action ever since. 

Mysterio underwent two surgeries on the injured knee, and it’s unclear exactly when the high-flyer will be able to return to the ring. But Mysterio has a date set in his mind, and it appears as if he’s going to do everything possible to return by then.

While promoting WrestleMania 28 in Florida this weekend, Rey Mysterio re-iterated that he is hoping to be back in the ring in time for the big event next April. Rey is currently recovering from knee surgery.

I’m certainly not the biggest fan of Mysterio that you’ll ever find, but I definitely hope we see him back in time for Wrestlemania 28.

Given his long history of knee problems, Mysterio likely doesn’t have a ton of time left in the WWE, so it would be nice to see him back for one last run. And it would be even better to see him get a couple of more Wrestlemania moments.

Mysterio may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but he’s undoubtedly one of the better wrestlers of our time as well as one of the most popular. I want him to go out on top, but before he does that, I think he’ll be perfectly set up for a feud with any of the luchadores currently on Smackdown.

Now that we may have Mistico, Hunico and Epico all on the blue brand, Mysterio has some other luchadores to work with, and presumably, we’ll see him feud with one (or all) of these guys leading into Wrestlemania.

The match that most of us want to see is Mysterio vs. Sin Cara, and if Mysterio is healthy enough come Wrestlemania time, that could certainly be in the cards.

Let’s hope that Mysterio returns before the granddaddy of them all, though, so at least there’s a chance that those two compete at the biggest pay-per-view of the year.
