NFL Power Rankings Week 10: Will Any Team Overtake the Green Bay Packers?

Would you believe it’s possible for a team to overtake the Green Bay Packers as early as next week to top the NFL power rankings?

Would you believe me if I told you it was the San Francisco 49ers?

Well, that’s the squad that has the best chance to jump the Pack and assert dominance in both the NFC and NFL as the toughest team in the league.

Here’s why.

The 49ers are currently sitting at 7-1 through nine weeks of NFL action, while the Packers are 8-0. I have the Packers at No. 1 in the rankings and the Niners at No. 2, but that could change at the conclusion of Week 10.

San Francisco plays the surging New York Giants this week, who are coming off a very important win against the New England Patriots.

While I personally believe that Eli and his offense are overrated, almost everyone else feels that it was an elite win despite the fact that it came at the expense of easily the worst secondary in the league.

The 49ers would have a great win under their belt if they knock off the Giants, who have to travel to San Francisco to play, and would be breathing right down the Green Bay's neck.

This week, the Packers play Minnesota on Monday Night Football.

The last time these two teams played (Week 7), it was a lot closer than anyone expected. The final score was GB 33, MIN 27, and it really could have gone Minnesota’s way in Christian Ponder’s first NFL start.

If Minnesota were able to overcome the Packers and hand them their first loss, along with a San Francisco win, the 49ers would be the No. 1 team in the NFL power rankings.

Before the season started, who would have thought that would ever happen?
