Week 10 Waiver Wire: Reggie Bush and Others You Must Add

Andrea HangstNov 7, 2011

While Reggie Bush sits unowned in just 32 percent of Yahoo! fantasy leagues, the Dolphins running back proved in Week 9 that he's earned ownership in every league—and that's why he tops my waiver-wire adds for Week 10.

Bush has 262 total yards over his last two games, putting up 103 yards in 15 carries and four receptions for 17 yards in Week 8 against the New York Giants and another 92 yards and a touchdown in 13 carries and three catches for 50 more yards in Week 9.

Though the Dolphins have struggled to figure out his true role in their offense, which has been flat until recently, it looks like they've found a spot for him as a feature back who may soon supplant Daniel Thomas as the starter with yet another big game.

With PPR value as well as great numbers in a standard format, Bush needs to be owned in every league and is worth a tentative start (especially based on matchups) for the remainder of the season.

But if Bush is owned in your league, fear not. Washington Redskins running back Roy Helu is more likely to be available to you—he's owned in only 30 percent of Yahoo! leagues despite apparently running away with the starting running back spot.

While I'm wary of suggesting any Redskins running back in the Shanahan era as a worthwhile fantasy start, Helu's performance in his team's Week 9 loss makes a strong case in his favor. Helu rushed 10 times for 41 yards and added 14 catches (a Redskins single-game record) for 105 yards, playing nearly every offensive snap.

He's a PPR goldmine, considering that Washington quarterback John Beck has found production only by checking down to his back. If the running game takes off again, Helu's numbers in both phases of the offense will be high.

But if your need is at wide receiver, the Oakland Raiders' Jacoby Ford is a solid add for Week 10. Ford got the (unannounced) start over fellow receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey and proved himself one of Carson Palmer's clear favorites, catching five passes for 105 yards and a touchdown.

If your league also counts kick and punt return yardage, Ford is even more valuable. He's had 322 kick return yards with one touchdown on the season.

It's clear that the receiver plan in Oakland is based upon who Palmer feels most comfortable throwing to, and that indicates that Ford and Palmer have developed significant chemistry in their short time working together.

The Raiders are going to go with what works on offense, so as long as Ford remains in Palmer's good graces, it's hard to imagine the team making any changes to their depth chart anytime soon.

Ford's worth adding this week, and depending on the matchup, could be an attractive starter for the rest of the year.
