Fantasy Football Week 10: Carson Palmer and More Waiver Wire Gems You Must Add

Tim DanielsNov 7, 2011

With just one game left in Week 9, it's time to look ahead to this week's waiver wire to determine which players should be claimed before the deadline.

Thanks to strong performances and improving situations, here are three players fantasy football owners should consider adding as the playoff race heats up.

QB: Carson PalmerOakland Raiders

The bye week must have helped Palmer, who scored 19 points in his first start as a Raider. Offensive Coordinator Al Saunders opened up the playbook right away, allowing Palmer to throw 35 times for 332 yards and three touchdowns.

Oakland doesn't possess one dominant receiver for him to utilize, but it illustrated nice depth against a poor Denver Broncos secondary.

Even though Palmer's task will get a little bit tougher against the San Diego Chargers on Thursday night, he's worth an immediate start.

RB: Roy HeluWashington Redskins

Ryan Torain, who was a hot waiver-wire commodity a couple weeks ago, has been pushed aside in favor of rookie Roy Helu. The Nebraska product gained 41 yards on 10 carries and, more impressively, caught 14 passes for 105 yards.

That type of dual-threat ability instantly makes Helu fantasy-worthy. With the noodle-armed John Beck under center, the dink-and-dunk mentality should continue against the Miami Dolphins. which should lead to another big game for Helu.

Week 10 Projection: 11 fantasy points

WR: Laurent RobinsonDallas Cowboys

Robinson has remained on fantasy radars even with Miles Austin and Dez Bryant both healthy. He's caught a touchdown in back-to-back weeks and has 10 catches over that span. Now that Austin's hamstring is acting up again, Robinson's value could skyrocket.

Tony Romo and Co. go up against a Buffalo Bills defense that played too soft against Mark Sanchez on Sunday, allowing him to complete 71 percent of his passes.

If Austin is out, Robinson becomes a must-start player. If Austin plays, Robinson remains a solid flex option.
