BCS Rankings: Alabama Players Foolishly Think They Are Still Best in Nation
Members of the Alabama Crimson Tide are crazy for still believing they are the best team in the nation despite getting beaten in overtime by the LSU Tigers this past Saturday.
The "Game of the Century" was one of the most boring, slow and sloppy matches I have ever seen and certainly did not live up to all of the hype it received prior to kickoff.
That doesn’t change the fact that LSU won and proved that they deserve to be the No. 1 team in the nation, with the inside track to the SEC Championship Game and BCS National Title Game.
For some reason, Crimson Tide players think they still have a shot.
""We still can go to the national championship," said wide receiver Marquis Maze. "We're still a national championship team. I feel like we're still the best team in the country. Anything can happen.
I think we're the best team in the country, I think if we played them again we wouldn't lose."
"
Alabama had their chance to beat LSU and they blew it. They will not get another chance to play LSU this year and they will have to settle for a BCS bowl, not the national title game.
Bama would need Oklahoma State, Stanford and Boise State to lose among a number of other factors in order to get another crack at LSU. It’s extremely unlikely that all of these scenarios take place with just a few short weeks left in the college season.
That hasn’t stopped Nick Saban’s players from having delusions of grandeur.
""I think we definitely have a chance of seeing those guys again if we finish strong," said Bama wide receiver Darius Hanks. He also stated that Alabama is definitely superior to LSU.
"
No matter how strong Alabama finishes, they simply knocked themselves out of contention and proved that they aren’t a superior team to LSU.
They can talk all they want—it won’t change a thing.
