UFC 1 on FOX: Predictions for KO, Submission and Fight of the Night
This Saturday, the UFC makes its debut on network television, as the heavyweight title is on the line!
The main event, and only televised fight, will be between the champion, Cain Velasquez (9-0), and the No. 1 contender, Junior dos Santos (13-1).
However, there will be a full preliminary card taking place beforehand, featuring bouts from notable fighters such as Ben Henderson vs. Clay Guida, Dustin Poirier vs. Pablo Garza and Norifumi Yamamoto vs. Darren Uyenoyama.
The fight-night bonus winners are sure to get big paychecks, so let's take a look at who's going home with a little extra green.
Submission of the Night: Pablo Garza
1 of 3Pablo Garza has been an animal since coming to the UFC.
In his first UFC fight, which was also his featherweight debut and also the first featherweight fight in UFC history, Garza won knockout of the night for a flying knee he scored 51 seconds into the bout.
Then, in his next fight, which opened up UFC 129—the biggest event ever in UFC history—Garza won submission of the night for a flying triangle choke at the 4:31 mark.
Next, he's going to win submission of the night on the first ever UFC on Fox card, when he derails the Dustin Poirier hype train.
Knockout of the Night: Junior dos Santos
2 of 3I have bounced back and forth on this fight so many times that it's actually becoming an issue.
This is one of the most evenly-matched fights in heavyweight history, UFC history and the history of MMA title fights.
Fans are nearly split 50-50 on who they think will win, and it could go either way.
However, should Junior pull out the win, it will likely be a knockout in brutal fashion.
Cheick Kongo rocked Cain, but JDS will put him away.
Fight of the Night: Ben Henderson vs. Clay Guida
3 of 3Duh.
Everybody is calling this the fight-of-the-year candidate, and some are calling it a fight-of-the-decade candidate.
Although sometimes a fight that is as hyped as this one ultimately ends up disappointing, that will not happen with this fight.
This one will live up to the hype, but unfortunately it can only be seen online.
