New York Giants: Eli Manning and the G-Men Overcome the New England Patriots

Pete SchauerNov 6, 2011

Add another fourth quarter comeback to Eli Manning's resume.

Manning's impressive fourth quarter drives helped seal the win for the New York Giants over the New England Patriots to improve their record to 6-2.

With his two best offensive weapons on the sidelines, Manning spread the ball around to seven different receivers, culminating in a 24-20 victory.

In an offensively lackluster first half, the Giants put up 24 points in the final two quarters, including two game-changing touchdown passes by Manning.

Victor Cruz filled in for the injured Hakeem Nicks nicely, hauling in six receptions for 91 yards, and drawing an important defensive pass interference call that set up New York for the game-winning touchdown.  Mario Manningham also played an important role, scoring a go-ahead touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

Tight end Jake Ballard had two huge catches in the game, the latter being the game-winning one-yard pass from Manning, on his way to a four-catch, 67-yard day.

Although Brandon Jacobs didn't rush for 100 yards, he did average four yards per carry on his way to 72 yards and a touchdown, resulting in his best game thus far this season.  Jacobs also caught four passes for 28 yards out of the backfield.

The Giants reached Brady twice for sacks, forced two Tom Brady interceptions and a fumble, and also recovered a Julian Edelman fumble.

Mathias Kiwanuka led the way for the Giants defensively, racking up 12 tackles and an interception.  Jason Pierre-Paul recorded a sack, as he continues to be the standout defensive MVP of a Giants defense that leads the league in sacks.

When it counted the most, Manning stepped up, leading New York to their fifth fourth quarter comeback of the season. He finished 20/39, with 250 yards, 2 TDs and 1 INT.

With this victory, Manning proves that he is an elite QB in the NFL.

The Giants will head to San Francisco next weekend to take on the surprising 7-1 49ers, who defeated the Washington Redskins 19-11 today.
