Fantasy Football Week 9: Mike Wallace and Stars That Will Shine in Primetime

Richard LangfordNov 6, 2011

Mike Wallace is going to be a one-man wrecking crew against the vaunted Ravens defense. He is going to help lead his team, and his fantasy owners' teams to victory.

He is not the only player due for a big performance in this week's primetime games.

Opponent: Ravens

Wallace is having an amazing season. He has 43 catches for 800 yards and five touchdowns—putting up those numbers during a consistent season.

This week will be no different. Wallace was one of the few bright spots for the Steelers in their Week 1 debacle against the Ravens. He had eight catches for 107 yards, and you can expect similar production this game.

If their is one weakness to the Ravens defense it is at the corner position. Football Outsiders has them ranked No. 10 stopping opposing No. 1 receivers.

That is certainly a very respectable ranking, but it also points to the closest thing to a vulnerability that the Ravens have.

The Steelers will take full advantage of this.

Prediction: 7 catches, 110 yards, 1 touchdown

Opponent: Bears

The Eagles appear to have gotten their Dream Team on track. At the center of that is a dynamic offense led by Michael. When Vick is at his best he can put up fantasy points at a rate that no other player can match.

Vick is going to shred this Bears defense. The Bears enter this game ranked 28th in passing yards allowed per game and 12th in rushing yards allowed per game. Both of those numbers will take a hit in this one.

According to Football Outsiders, the Bears are 25th in the NFL in defending teams' No. 1 receivers. Vick is going to find an open Jeremy Maclin or DeSean Jackson early and often in this one.

And when they aren't open, he will pull it in and run with it.

Prediction: 280 passing yards, 3 touchdowns, 64 rushing yards

Opponent: Eagles

Vick isn't the only player ready to put up big fantasy numbers in this one. Matt Forte will run over this Eagles rush defense.

The Eagles are 19th in rushing yards allowed per game. They are an even worse 28th in yards allowed per rush.

This means Forte could find something he has seen little of this season: running lanes.

But it is not just on the ground where Forte will have success. The Bears running back is also their leading receiver. This is not good for the Eagles. Football Outsiders ranks the Eagles 30th in stopping opposing RBs in the passing game.

Forte is going to be a true dual threat in this game and he will put up big numbers.

Prediction: 107 rushing yards, 1 touchdown, 74 receiving yards, 1 touchdown
