Oregon Ducks vs. Stanford Cardinal Will Be the Game of the Year

Kristian WinfieldNov 6, 2011

Saturday night, we watched No. 1 LSU take down No. 2 Alabama in a grind-it-out, low-scoring showdown for college football supremacy.

But unless you were born in the 1950s, this so-called Game of the Year was disappointing—a 9-6 outcome with nothing but made and missed field goals.

Oregon vs. Stanford is sure to be more exciting.

Essentially a showdown for the Heisman trophy, it'll be the electrifying Oregon RB, LaMichael James, facing off against Stanford's gunslinger, Andrew Luck.

Meshed together with the likes of Darron Thomas and the sensational rookie athlete, De'Anthony Thomas, the Ducks' offense will be sure to put up at least 30 points on the Cardinal defense.

The Cardinal offense, too, will put up big points with Luck picking apart the Oregon secondary. With help from RB Stepfan Taylor, Stanford's offense will be able to match the Ducks, point-for-point.

Prediction

Though Luck is touted as the best QB in college football and the undisputed No. 1 draft pick for the 2012 NFL draft, the Oregon two-headed monster in LaMichael James and Darron Thomas will come out on top in this Pac-12 rivalry game.

Luck will have the game of his season, passing for over 400 yards and four touchdowns, but Oregon, with help from freshman De'Anthony Thomas will come out on top in a high-scoring thriller—the true meaning of a Game of the Year.

James will rush for 200 or more yards and three touchdowns, and Darron Thomas will add three touchdowns—two in the air and one on the ground.

The Ducks will come out on top, 45-38.
