Pacquiao vs Marquez: Fight Will Leave Boxing Fans Begging for Pac-Man-Mayweather
When Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez fight for the third time, one of the biggest storylines will be whether the winner will face Floyd Mayweather.
It's pretty clear that Pacquiao is going to win the fight, and when he does, the boxing world will be begging to see him and Mayweather square off.
However, this relies on Pac-Man beating Marquez, so let's breakdown everything leading up to the Pacquiao vs. Mayweather fight.
Pacquiao vs. Marquez
This fight really shouldn't be as good as most people expect.
Marquez has had to add a lot of weight for this fight (roughly 10-15 pounds). This huge change in a short amount of time will leave Marquez fighting in an unfamiliar body, and we’ve seen that adding weight can be his downfall.
Marquez has already fought Mayweather, losing via unanimous decision (120-107, 119-108, 118-109). For that fight, Marquez had to reach his highest weight of his career, and he looked slow. He eventually wore down and the decision was an easy one for the judges.
Marquez has had to gain weight again, and he is even bulkier than when he fought Mayweather. He is going to be slow this fight, and, if he can't end the fight early, Pacquiao will win this one easily.
Marquez is also in the twilight of his career, and his stamina is decreasing. If he can't last the entire fight (he can't), then Pacquiao will win this fight.
The odds are clearly against Marquez, and I expect him to be knocked out in this one.
The Aftermath
After Pacquiao knocks Marquez out, the boxing world will see that he can floor any of his opponents. It will bring up talk about him fighting Mayweather once more, and this time it should be too much to ignore.
The build-up for the fight between these two that was supposed to happen was huge, and if they can agree on anti-doping methods the media will go crazy. This fight will make boxing a prevalent sport once more, as it has lost some of its appeal to the world.
This fight will be just too much to pass up, and it's going to happen this time.
