Ahmad Bradshaw Injury: What Is Fantasy Impact on Brandon Jacobs, Eli Manning?

Ryan AlfieriNov 6, 2011

Losing Ahmad Bradshaw is going to have a huge impact on the Giants offense, but what will it mean for your fantasy team?

For Brandon Jacobs, his value is only going to increase, simply because of the added number of carries he is going to get. Don't expect, however, for Jacobs to get as many touches as Bradshaw would have gotten. Bradshaw is a much more dynamic player than Jacobs, and Kevin Gilbride makes a conscious effort to get him the ball. The same cannot be said for Jacobs.

Still, Jacobs is certainly a viable stater this week, and he will get all of the goal line carries. D.J. Ware may take some carries away to give Jacobs a rest, but Jacobs will still get most of the carries. I am still a bit weary of the average Giants line—which is missing its starting center, David Bass, this week—trying to block Vince Wilfork and the rest of the Patriots heavy and experienced defensive line.

Bradshaw's injury may actually have a positive impact on Manning's fantasy value. The Giants are going to end up throwing the ball more without Bradshaw to hand the ball off to. This certainly is not conducive to the Giants winning the game, but if Manning keeps throwing (and he is playing at a very high level right now), he will rack up yards.

Additionally, without Bradshaw in the red zone, the Giants are going to probably try to pass it in more than they will try to run. Losing Hakeem Nicks is certainly a blow, but the Giants are fairly deep at wide receiver, as the young Victor Cruz has proven that he can make some plays alongside Mario Manningham.
