Dwight Howard Modern Warefare 3 Video: Watch Magic Star Answer the Call of Duty

Adam WellsNov 6, 2011

Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard can do anything on a basketball court—other than shoot free throws—and he makes it all look so easy because he is so physically gifted and athletic. He is also an avid video gamer and is doing his part to help launch the newest Call of Duty game, Modern Warfare 3

The hit video game franchise will release its latest iteration on the world Nov. 8, and there has been a promotional blitz for it the likes of which few, if any video games have ever seen.

Movie stars and athletes alike have been featured in the commercials, including the one you are watching. It has Sam Worthington, the star of "Avatar," and Jonah Hill, best known for his work in "Superbad."

Howard doesn't make an appearance until right near the end. He plays the guy in the multiplayer that everyone hates and wants to boot. He just comes in firing his weapon anywhere he can, with no regard for strategy or subtlety.

The spot ends with Hill calling Howard a "noob." Howard does give a nice shout-out to professional wrestling legend Ric Flair with a "WOOO!" at the end.

While I do not completely understand the "Call of Duty" craze—it's the same game every year—I can appreciate its place in American pop culture and enjoy these commercials.

Plus, it's good to see Howard find work somewhere since it doesn't appear the NBA is going to reach any kind of agreement soon. He needs to do anything he can to pass the day.

He has always wanted to be an actor and can put this on his resume. He can call himself "The Annoying Guy who 'Woos.'"

Sure, it's just a quick cameo, but everyone has to start somewhere. It will certainly do more for his off-court career than his role in the oh-so memorable Queen Latifah bomb "Just Wright."
