LSU vs. Alabama Video: Watch Tigers Top Crimson Tide with OT Field Goal

LSU vs. Alabama: a great game? Yes.

Game of the Century? Depends on how much you enjoy field goals; like the one that won the Tigers the game in overtime, settling the final score at 9-6.

After all the epic epicness—the hard hits, the big plays and the monumental hype leading up the game—the difference between being the front-runner for the BCS National Championship and...well, being second in the SEC came down to the foot of Drew Alleman.

Luckily for Alleman, the pressure only necessitated that he get the ball through the upright from just 25 yards out, though you can bet the weight of the world was on that kid's leg.

Such was the beauty of this latest edition of No. 1 vs. No. 1. With so many playmakers and NFL prospects running from hash mark to hash mark and causing havoc at Bryant-Denny Stadium, the game ultimately rested on the efforts of two little guys who spend, at most, five minutes of clock time on the field per contest.

But as clutch as Alleman was, it's easy to forget that the Tide probably should've won this game; they had twice as many field goal attempts as did the Tigers.

Still, not even steely-eyed Nick Saban could coax Cade Foster and Jeremy Shelley to succeed more than once apiece.

So now, you'll hear all about how intense the game was, how great the atmosphere was, how good these two teams are, and, from some folks, how they should play it again, Sam, for the crystal football; to which I retort: if I wanted to watch a game decided by feet, I'd tune in to soccer instead.
