Arsenal Transfers: 10 Possible Targets for Arsene Wenger in January

Arsenal look to have finally found their form this season, having climbed into the top eight of the EPL with their eyes set on rising above Liverpool and Tottenham.

However, Arsene Wenger still has many kinks to workout in his squad and there needs to be some permanent solutions to troubled areas for the long-term team outlook.

The majority of the signings that the club made in the summer look more to have been out of last minute necessity than beliefs for long-term stability.

I expect them to make at least a few moves in January that are more calculated for the long run.

Jeremy Balmy

Although he is not available until next summer by all technical concerns, Mirror Football reports Jeremy Balmy of Le Havre could be a hot item on Arsene Wenger's want list.

Eden Hazard

While Lille winger Eden Hazard still remains an outside prospect for the Gunners, with him most likely going to a huge bidder, it is still great to believe he could make a switch to London.

Kevin Grosskreutz

While he is currently under contract with Borussia Dortmund until 2014, 23-year-old Kevin Grosskreutz could be hoping to attract interest for an Arsenal switch in the future.

The attacking midfielder soloed out the Gunners for personal preference in a short statement to the Daily Mail:

With Wenger most likely looking to immediate available players, Grosskreutz could have to wait a year or two.

Javi Garcia

Arsenal could be in for former Real Madrid player and current squad member of Sporting Lisbon, Javi Garcia.

The versatile midfielder can also be a makeshift defender which would fit in well at Arsenal as they need more dynamic players in their club.

Michael Chambers

Arsenal are leaders in the current race of Manchester United, Tottenham and themselves for the signature of teenage starlet Michael Chambers.

The 17-year-old defender is a former Millwall and Reading talent that never seemed to have panned out for either of them.

Marco Reus

Arsenal are eying another German prospect in the form of Borussia Monchengladbach attacker, Marco Reus.

The Gunners' most likely competition at the time is Bayern Munich, with both clubs fighting for the £15 million rated player.

Mario Goetze

Mario Goetze was subject of Arsenal scouts during his last homes performance. Arsene Wenger is keen to lure away the prized talent of Borussia Dortmund.

Regarded as the second coming of Lionel Messi, Goetze would be an amazing acquisition for the Gunners if they could pull it off.

Jan Vertonghen

Jan Vertonghen continues to be subject of Arsenal attention. Just this week he appears to have issued a come and get me plea to Arsene Wenger.

The key element for that move has to be the chance for Vertonghen to play with national teammate and best friend Thomas Vermaelen.

Seydou Doumbia

CSKA Moscow attacker Seydou Doumbia is one of the latest players to issue a come and get me plea to Arsene Wenger and the Gunners.

The forward has scored 30 goals in 40 league games in Russia and could be a great addition to their attacking line.

Lukas Podolski

German international Lukas Podolski is a primary target for Arsene Wenger this January. After many years of getting the job done on the international pitch but not for his club, it finally seems that Podolski has figured it out this season.

FC Köln are only likely to part with him for a major fee, but he could be a sensation in the EPL with the right supporting cast.

Conclusion

The Gunners are slowly but surely rebuilding from their terrible start to the season. New faces in January could be another huge part of their club rebuilding process.

As Robin Van Persie is threatening a move away even if he is not being verbal about it. He will most likely at least remain until the summer, but it will be important for Arsene Wenger and the club to put their best efforts forward to help make sure they retain their top players like RVP.
