TNA Wrestling: Can Impact Come Up with a Tournament for the Television Title?

I realize the TNA Television Title has about as much importance in the landscape of Impact as The Pope finally being used in a proper storyline, but can we get a little more respect and love for what is supposed to be the second-most important prize in the company?

There was so much made of the World Title and the need to improve its recognition, so the Bound for Glory Series was created. The three months of build-up with budding and aging stars was creative, smart and successful.

So why not use that type of enthusiasm to create a true Television champion.

I am saddened by the way Eric Young is used in this situation. Young is a good ring performer and should be given a bigger role than some troll. Also, the Hollywood angle and the use of Ronnie from Jersey Shore and the battle with Robbie E and Rob Terry is just awful.

Why not just bring David Arquette back to wrestling, because that is the angle it seems to follow.

I see a lot of what WCW tried to do (thanks Eric Brischoff and Vince Russo, AGAIN) with bringing in awful stories with famous people. This has to stop.

When I look back at the television champions of the past, it meant they wrestled every program and defended the title for 10 or 15 minutes. It meant something to the AJ Style's, Arn Anderson's, Tully Blanchard's and Barry Windham's of wrestling. Now, it is a joke and there are two belts, which makes it even more of an atrocity.

Why can't a tournament work? We just had one for the Knockout's Title as well. And even if I do not like the premise behind having Karen Jarrett in the ring, or on stage for the that matter, it works now.

Wrestlers like Kazarian, The Pope, Matt Morgan and Gunner all deserve a shot at the belt. Robbie E is a lower-level talent, and Eric Young is not facing anyone of strength, unless they put the belt on Rob Terry. What about Magnus? Where has he been? Kid Kash could make a move up in the ranks, or what about possibly giving Austin Aries another push with two titles?

It is just a thought. But until the title situation is resolved and real matches develop, there will not be a semblance of reality (funny how that is used in wrestling) to the title.

And for a title that is supposed to "matter," it speaks volumes about how far down in the ranks the Television Title is appreciated.
