Week 9 Fantasy Football Rankings: Taiwan Jones and Sleeper Big Play RBs

Michael DixonNov 5, 2011

Until play begins on Sunday, you need to keep an eye on the waiver wire for which players become available.

As long as bye weeks and injuries are a part of your equation, you're probably having to scramble to fill some roster spots on a weekly basis.

One position is running back, which is not a very deep position as it is. So, you need to take some gambles. The nature of a gamble is that it might not pay off.

But these guys have the potential to be worth the risk. Theoretically, they can pay off for you with one good play. So, at least give these guys a look. If you're having a problem finding a good RB, give these guys a play.

Javon Ringer

If Chris Johnson is not producing, the Titans need to look to someone to get yards for them. The Bengals have a good defense, but Tennessee went to Ringer a lot last week.

His productivity has increased in the last few weeks. The bottom line is that until Johnson steps his production up, the Titans are going to look elsewhere.

Right now, elsewhere means to Ringer.

Taiwan Jones

Jones is a riskier play than either of the other two guys listed here because he can get lost in the shuffle. Ringer will get his reps, Jones may not get too many.

But he has blistering speed and is facing a defense that will have a hard time stepping up and stopping him. As both a scat back on runs and receiver on screen plays, Jones can score on any given play.

Against Denver, I like his chances of pulling some big plays out.

Chris Ogbonnaya

Ogbonnaya is going to get some carries this week. The Browns will need to figure out a way to move the ball against Houston and they clearly can't reliably pass the ball.

I don't know that he'll have a spectacular game, but it will be a decent fantasy day. Frankly, I don't think he's much of a gamble.

He's also got a decent amount of big-play potential. He may be the safest play on this list. If you just need a steady guy, this is your play. If you need to gamble on a big day, go with Jones or Ringer.
