Week 9 Fantasy Football Rankings: Chris Ogbonnaya and Last-Minute Flex Sleepers

Tim DanielsNov 5, 2011

Whether it be due to injuries, bye weeks or a busy week at work, fantasy owners are often sent scrambling to the waiver wire at the last minute to find replacements. Here are three flex spot sleepers to consider that could save your week.

Arrelious Benn – Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Head coach Raheem Morris said he wants to get Benn, a former second-round pick, more involved in the offense moving forward. He's always had the talent to make an impact, but injuries and inconsistent playing time have held him back.

He caught three passes for 83 yards and a touchdown against the New Orleans Saints when the teams last met and could be in line for another big game this week. If Benn could become a legitimate deep threat, Josh Freeman might be able to re-find his 2010 form.

Week 9 Projection: seven fantasy points

Jacoby Jones – Houston Texans

Andre Johnson is going to miss another game with his nagging hamstring injury, which opens up more targets for Jones. He's the type of boom-or-bust option that is worth the risk because you know he'll be getting looks, it's just about capitalizing on them.

He caught four passes for 76 yards and a touchdown against Baltimore's strong defense a couple weeks ago, so don't be scared away by Cleveland's strong ranking against opposing wideouts. And when it comes to finding replacements on the waiver wire, fantasy owners can't be picky.

Week 9 Projection: eight fantasy points

Chris Ogbonnaya – Cleveland Browns

Peyton Hillis and Montario Hardesty are both expected to miss Sunday's game, which leaves the little-known Ogbonnaya to carry the load against Houston. And in a weird twist of fate, Cleaveland acquired the running back from the Texans two weeks ago.

The Browns are extremely thin in the backfield right now, so Ogbonnaya will get every chance to succeed and could very well see 20 or more carries. In fantasy football, that automatically makes him worthy of getting a spot start, regardless of his limited history.
