LSU vs. Alabama: Loser Will Still Have Life in BCS Championship Race

Everybody has been talking about the matchup between No. 1 LSU and No. 2 Alabama like it's the real National Championship game.

I have news for you, it's not.

It's just a regular season showdown between two top SEC schools.

People have dubbed this the "real" National Championship because the overall consensus is that LSU and Alabama are the best two teams in the country.

That could very well be true, which is why the two could still meet in the BCS National Championship.

That's right. These teams still could face off again this year.

If LSU wins the game, Alabama will drop to an 8-1 record. With this record, they will likely fall to fifth in the nation behind Boise State.

The winner will likely go on to finish the season unbeaten and as the top team in the country.

The loser could still find themselves at the No. 2 spot before the season ends.

No. 3 Oklahoma State still has to face No.14 Kansas State tonight. If they make it past that game they still run into No. 6 Oklahoma.

That's not a very good road to have. Oklahoma State will likely drop a game.

No. 4 Stanford has to face No. 8 Oregon next weekend. If they can finish undefeated they still have to face off against Arizona State or USC in the Pac-12 Championship game.

No. 5 Boise State isn't going to drop a game. However, they have had a pathetic schedule. Georgia was their only ranked opponent this season.

If the loser of the LSU and Alabama game tonight can win out after the loss, they will be the top ranked one-loss team.

Who will get the nod in a Championship Game berth? Boise State or an SEC team with their only loss coming against the top ranked team in the nation.

There you have it folks. LSU and Alabama play later tonight. They could also still play in the actual National Championship Game.
