Week 9 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Joe Flacco and Must-Sit Quarterbacks

Patrick ClarkeNov 5, 2011

Week 9 is just hours away, and that means it's time for some last-minute roster adjustments.

Odds are your fantasy team is locked up tight and ready for the ninth matchup of the season, but that can't save you from these three QBs poised for bad outings this weekend.

Colt McCoy

Colt McCoy is only owned in about 23 percent of ESPN fantasy leagues, so there isn't a huge risk of McCoy stinking up the joint for everyone in Week 9.

Still, McCoy and the Cleveland Browns are hitting the road this week to take on the Houston Texans without any running back help because Peyton Hillis has issues folks.

Houston ranks fifth in fantasy pass defense this season and McCoy has just three TDs to his name in the past three weeks while fumbling four times last week against the 49ers. Need I say more?

Do not, I repeat, do not start Matt Hasselbeck in Week 9. Sure, we are all waiting for the Cincinnati Bengals to begin their 2011 collapse, but it won't happen this weekend I promise.

The Bengals have a favorable matchup on the road and boast one of the stingiest fantasy pass defenses in the league this season.

Hasselbeck has been mediocre since getting the Titans off to a hot 3-1 start, throwing for three touchdowns and three picks in that time.

Joe Flacco

I want to believe in Joe Flacco this week, I really do, but the Steelers are just clicking too nicely right now on defense. Pittsburgh is in true midseason form.

Flacco hasn't had a quality fantasy day since Week 3 at St. Louis, which is disappointing for a quarterback of his skill level.

Since that Week 3 explosion, Flacco has even checked in two single-digit fantasy performances. Combine that with the fact that he's facing the seventh-best fantasy pass defense in Pittsburgh and we have a problem.
