Week 9 Fantasy Football Start Em Sit Em: Cedric Benson and RBs You Need to Start

Michael MillNov 5, 2011

In recent weeks, we have slowly seen the NFL shift from the high-flying offenses and aerial attacks back to the more conventional running-style offenses we have seen in the past.

It took defenses a bit of time to shake off the rust after the NFL lockout, but they are finally starting to shut down opposing pass attacks.

Now, we are seeing running backs beginning to turn it on with big games.

Here are three running backs poised for huge games this weekend.

BenJarvis Green-Ellis, RB (New England Patriots)

Currently listed as questionable with a toe injury, if Green-Ellis is ready to go this weekend, he could have a huge game against the New York Giants.

This New York defense is not as good as it has been in recent years. They are currently allowing 130.1 rushing yards per game, a total that ranks 28th in the league.

Green-Ellis got off to a hot start, but he has slowed down in recent weeks.

Look for him to turn it back on against the Giants.

Cedric Benson, RB (Cincinnati Bengals)

Cedric Benson isn't really an elite runner in the NFL, but he is going to get more carries each week than the majority of running backs in the league.

The Bengals are back to their 2009 form when they made the playoffs. They are playing great defense and have ball control on offense.

This weekend, the Bengals match up against the Tennessee Titans, who, after a hot start, have really fallen apart recently.

The Titans are averaging 129.3 yards allowed on the ground per game. Benson is going to come off of his one-game suspension with a strong showing.

LeSean McCoy, RB (Philadelphia Eagles)

LeSean McCoy has emerged as one of the three best running backs in the NFL.

Last week, McCoy ripped apart the top-ranked Dallas Cowboys run defense for 185 yards and two touchdowns.

McCoy is currently trailing only Adrian Peterson in total rushing yards at 754. After 11 rushing touchdowns in his first two seasons, McCoy has eight already this year.

The Eagles play the Bears on Monday Night Football.

This is not your typical Chicago defense. They are allowing 5.2 yards per carry on the ground this year. That's tied for second worst in the league.

Look for McCoy to continue to build off of his dominant performance and rush for his third straight 100-yard game.
