Breeders' Cup 2011: Filly Havre de Grace Will Show That Girls Rule
There is only one filly in the 2011 Breeders’ Cup classic at Churchill Downs, and she is one of the top favorites in this race.
Havre de Grace is a beautiful horse that was born to run, and Churchill Downs will be her chance to show just how good she can be.
The filly is coming into the Breeders’ Cup with two straight victories, and she has won eight of her last 13 starts.
She has shown in every race she has entered, but Havre de Grace has never won on a 1.25-mile track before, and that has some fans skeptical of her ability to finish the race strong.
The filly has only raced on a 1.25-mile track twice and came in second place both times, leading experts to think she tires out by the time the last quarter mile or so comes around.
The hope is that all of the experience has improved the horse’s stamina and that this is the chance for the filly to overcome her previous shortcomings.
Another factor that isn’t being talked about much is the experience that Havre de Grace has on the Churchill Downs track.
While she has run 1.25 miles on the track, she has run 1.125 miles on Churchill Downs last year at the Breeders’ Cup, but it was the Breeders' Cup Ladies Classic that she competed in. Havre de Grace came in third.
Havre de Grace is one of the best horses in the race today, and it may be time for this filly to show the boys that girls rule.
