WWE, TNA, and ROH: Top 5 Wrestling Nights of the Week

Justin WatryNov 5, 2011

Fans all over the world watch wrestling each and every week. Some may not watch every single program of every single promotion, but enough follow the sport to know what is going on in the entire business.

A lot of times, certain shows have their certain nights to look forward to. It is the same with every television show on right now—it has its particular night.

Well, wrestling actually has a couple nights that entertain fans. What are the best nights? Let's dive in and see...

5. Thursday Night

1 of 5

Do you ever feel like watching WCW 2000 again? Do you ever feel like watching your childhood heroes from the '80s and '90s again? Well, Spike TV offers that every Thursday night with TNA Impact Wrestling!

The product has its diehard fans, but it just doesn't do it for me (or millions of others). I won't even rant on the problems I have with this company, on-screen and off.

Anyways, this is the worst night of the week for wrestling fans. The company has tons of great talents. Tons! However, the way it is presented on TV cannot be justified anymore...it just can't.

4. Saturday Night

I am not going to lie. I am not a big fan of ROH. It has amazing action in the ring, but that is it. Ring action alone does not make me want to support a product and actually spend money to view its show (live or on pay-per-view).

However, it is fun to watch on TV. I have a station that airs the program every Saturday night, and I have only missed one show. It is definitely an alternative to the major company.

What puts ROH ahead of TNA is that I can watch it without feeling insulted. I can watch it without feeling disgusted by what I just saw, and I can watch it without flipping through channels after 45 straight minutes of talking.

When ROH says they are about "wrestling," they are not boldly lying about it. They are telling the truth.

3. Friday Night

WWE Smackdown is a quality show, week in and week out. It may not always have enough "pizazz," but it's a nice two hours that never gets boring.

Of course, Mark Henry is currently dominating the brand, so that is a plus. Smackdown is much more than him, though. It really is.

Randy Orton has had a great 2011, and Cody Rhodes is slowly becoming one of the best performers in the business.

Sin Cara is fun to watch, even though his current story does nothing for me. I could go on and on. They have a great roster, and they keep everything simple. Just how it should be.

2. Sunday Night

4 of 5

There is no mistake about it: The days of "must see" PPV shows are long gone. WWE has their new model of running shows on Sunday nights, and they seem to be happy with it.

However, nothing can take away from a big PPV show. I do not even have to describe how WrestleMania feels each and every year. I do not even have to describe how everyone felt the day of "Money in the Bank" this year.

While some PPV shows are definitely "throwaways," you can feel the energy when a big event comes around. More than likely, that takes place on a Sunday!

1. Monday Night

5 of 5

I am sorry, but nothing beats Mondays. You can even go back over a decade and talk about the "Monday Night Wars" for this one—not the embarrassing head-to-head war last year. That was a joke!

The feeling on Raw (or Nitro) being on each Monday is a nice feeling to have. You know the time slot. You know the channel. You know that the only thing you can expect is the unexpected.

Right when people start whining and complaining about the product being "predictable," you can bet a WWE Raw moment will be created! The cycle just goes on and on...

The final reason this gets the No. 1 spot is the simple fact that it is a live show. Smackdown is taped a few days ahead of time. TNA Impact is taped (what seems like) weeks in advance sometimes, so nobody cares by the time it actually airs.

Raw is live 99 percent of the time, and as much as we may think we "know" what is going to happen, Raw is always there to remind us of one thing: We are all fans, just as we should be.
