Brian Wilson LSU Video: Watch Giants Closer Support LSU on ESPN College GameDay

Richard LangfordNov 5, 2011

"This is a weird mascot game. You've got the Backs vs. Cocks. Never bet against the Cocks." This is the kind of in depth college football analysis you get when San Francisco Giants' closer Brian Wilson brings his talents to ESPN's College Gameday.

Wilson made his way to the Gameday set through a crowd of rabid, and perhaps slightly intoxicated, Alabama fans while wearing a full LSU uniform.

The uni was complete with pads and a helmet—albeit without a facemask so he could show off his trademark beard.

Wilson joined the normal crew of Chris Fowler, Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit for a weekly segment where they have celebrities pick some of the day's biggest games.

The bearded one picked Arizona State to beat UCLA because, "ASU is where our spring training is, and the women are hot."

It was after that gem when he picked South Carolina to beat Arkansas for the reason at the top. By that time, Wilson had everyone rolling. Herbstreit could barely go on because he was intoxicated with fits of laughter.

There were a few more picks in there before they made their way to the year's biggest game: LSU vs. Alabama.

Given that Wilson was in an LSU jersey there wasn't much surprise in his answer, but there was in the fact that he played a LSU's fight song on the trumpet to announce it.

The fact that Wilson is so entertaining likely saved him from a harsher reaction from the crowd. Of course, Wilson's schtick was custom made to diffuse a college crowd.

The All-Star closer's appearance on Gameday highlights how diverse a skill set he possess. The guy is hilarious. Everything I have seen him in, he cracks me up. Rather that is appearing on a talk show as a sea captain, or doing commercials for videogames.

This all leads me to one conclusion. Brian Wilson needs to host Saturday Night Live. The short skits are custom made for his talents. He would pass Petyon Manning as the best athlete host in SNL history, and likely be the most memorable host of the season.

I've got a fever, and the only prescription is more Wilson!
