2011 Breeders' Cup Odds: Havre De Grace Set to Dominate Boys in Cup Classic

Four-year-old filly racehorse Havre de Grace, named after the city in Maryland, which is named after the port city of Le Havre, France, is set at 3-1 odds of winning Saturday's Breeders' Cup Classic at Churchill Downs.

Having become one of the betting favorites to win the $5 million purse at this year's event, Havre de Grace can add her unique name to Breeders' Cup history with a win in the one and a quarter mile race.

Only one other female racehorse has won the Breeders' Cup Classic in the event's 26-year history, Zenyatta back in 2009.

Just last September in New York, Havre de Grace became the second filly to win the Woodward Stakes since Rachel Alexandra did it in 2009, both running past a pack of favored male horses en route to victory.

Arguably no horse is hotter coming into the Breeders' Cup Classic than Havre de Grace, who has won five of her last six starts in 2011.

She will be contending with 5-2 favorite Uncle Mo for the crown. Uncle Mo suffered a rare liver ailment last spring that forced him out of the Kentucky Derby and the Triple Crown race.

Trainer Todd Pletcher has the three-year-old colt back in form this November and looking for a signature win at the 2011 Breeders' Cup.

But if history tells us anything, it's that the filly, Havre de Grace is poised to shock the boys on the dirt track this Saturday.

First the Woodward Stakes, and now the Breeders' Cup Classic, 2011 is the year of Grace.
