Breeders' Cup 2011 Entries: Goldikova Set to Become Greatest Ever in Cup Mile
Goldikova has a chance to add to her historic run in the Breeders' Cup Mile on Saturday.
The six-year-old mare has dominated the competition the past three years in the event, dating back to 2008, and is again the favorite to take home the $2 million purse in 2011.
According to ESPN and other credible sources, Goldikova's trainer, Freddy Head is confident that he has her ready for Saturday's historic opportunity:
""The goal is to be there at 100 percent on Saturday. She's very well, I don't think I could have her better."
"
Goldikova's three wins in the event are the most by any horse in Breeders' Cup history, the event began back in 1984.
Only two other horses have won the race even twice, Lure in 1992-93, and Miesque in 1987-88 who oddly enough was jockeyed by Goldikova's trainer Head in both wins.
Goldikova is set to retire after the November event and conclude a legacy that will likely never be matched.
A win in the Breeders' Cup mile on Saturday would elevate her to a legendary level, four consecutive wins would put her in Jimmie Johnson territory.
The 2010 European Horse of the Year should be everyone's favorite to win on Saturday, what a story it would be, and what history it would be.
