Peyton Hillis Must Get Out of Cleveland After This Season

Donald WoodNov 5, 2011

It looks like the Madden curse has struck again, and this time it has affected a player off the field as well as on the field.

After having a fantastic breakout season last year with the Browns, power running back Peyton Hillis is having the worst season possible.

Not only have the facts about the ongoing contract dispute between the Browns and the Hillis camp over a contract extension become public, that rift has been used to explain the lack of success this season from the Madden coverboy.

And it’s not just fantasy football owners that want to have a word outback with the back.

"

"I think everybody's noticed a little bit of a change in him, but he could have some family issues or something. Maybe his priorities have changed. We have a whole new staff, so a lot of things have changed. Maybe some of it's overblown."

"

There is no doubt that Hillis is one of the best power running backs in the NFL, but something during the season has clearly kept his mind off the game at hand each week.

Nagging injuries and an illness have kept Hillis out of games that many around the team feel he could have played through and those feelings have the Browns locker room on edge.

Peyton Hillis needs to leave Cleveland after this season.

If Hillis can sign with a team that has a solid offensive line for the money he wants, he can concentrate on being the kind of player he wants to be instead of worrying about whether or not he will get paid.

Either way, I wish I knew he was going to suck before I drafted him in fantasy leagues as high as I did.
