Week 9 Fantasy Football Start Em Sit Em: Cedric Benson and RBs Who Will Please

Josh MartinNov 5, 2011

This new offense-first NFL hasn't been kind to everyone in the world of fantasy football. Running backs around the league have suffered as a result of the pass-happiness of it all, though these ball carriers are due for big games in Week 9.

Cedric Benson, Cincinnati Bengals

Cedric Benson is symbolic of Cincinnati's success this season—it's not pretty, but it gets the job done.

His yards-per-carry average of 3.9 might sting the nostrils, but it won't keep him from making minced meat of a Titans defense that ranks 27th against the run and, similarly, is the fifth-friendliest for opposing running backs.

What's more, Benson will have fresh legs after spending Week 8 at home due to a league-sanctioned suspension.

Beanie Wells, Arizona Cardinals

I'm going to begin and end this bit with a note of caution: Beanie Wells has a sore knee.

Although, that didn't exactly keep the Cardinals from feeding him the ball 22 times against the Ravens, which he turned into 83 yards and a touchdown.

Bum wheel or no, Arizona will lean on him to carry the load against the Rams, especially now that John Skelton is expected to start in place of the injured Kevin Kolb.

Wells shouldn't mind too much, seeing as how St. Louis sports the NFL's worst run defense by a pretty hefty margin.

But, again, starting Wells is still something of a risk, as he knee is liable to give out at any moment.

Michael Turner, Atlanta Falcons

Somehow, someway, Michael Turner is still relevant in the world of fantasy football.

Okay, so maybe it's not that big of a mystery, since he's cracked the 100-yard mark four times this season, twice in his last two games.

And maybe it's not that big of a stretch to predict that he'll achieve that feat for a fifth time against a Colts defense that's second-worst in the league against the run.

That still doesn't negate the fact that anyone who has Turner starting on their fantasy team will be mighty happy with his production on Sunday.
