NFL Power Rankings: Teams That Will Fall out of Top 10 Following Week 9

Michael MillNov 5, 2011

Much like the BCS rankings, each week when ESPN releases their version of the NFL power rankings, there are often grumbles from fan bases across the nation.

Luckily for NFL fans, these rankings don't have any impact on who wins the Super Bowl.

There are a few teams that are in the Top 10 that could face some rough results this weekend.

Here are three teams that drop out of the rankings following Week 9.

No. 7: Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills have started off the season hot with a 5-2 record. Who would have thought that at the halfway mark of the season the Bills would control their own destiny in the AFC East?

After this week, that may no longer be the case.

Buffalo faces off against the New York Jets this week. The Jets have struggled early in the season, but have seemed to have straightened things out recently.

New York will emerge as a contender, and the Bills will be fighting for their life following a loss this weekend.

No. 9: New York Giants

Also sitting at a 5-2 record, the New York Giants are another team that controls their own destiny in divisional play.

New York is two games up on the rest of the NFC East and they are going to need it in coming weeks. This Giants are about to run into a very difficult schedule.

It kicks off this week against the New England Patriots in Foxborough.

The game is going to be a shootout between two teams that have struggled on the defensive side of the ball.

Eli Manning has looked fantastic, but betting money against Tom Brady is never a good idea.

No. 10: Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears have played extremely inconsistent on offense and defense through the first eight weeks of the season.

Despite this, they are still sitting at a 4-3 record and fighting to stay alive in the NFC North.

This weekend, those hopes will be nearly put to rest in Philadelphia.

The Eagles, dare I say it, are finally coming together. "Dream Team" may still be a ridiculous statement, but after the domination on Sunday Night Football against the Cowboys, it's clear that this Philadelphia team can contend.

They will make another step in the right direction with a win against the Bears.
