LSU at Alabama: Les Miles Play-by-Play Live Blog
Les Miles and Nick Saban could NOT be more different.
The Mad Hatter is known for his grass eating and good ol’ boy charm, while Saban and his Crimson Tide team call to mind Terminator references.
ESPN and the rest of the mainstream media has filled countless hours of coverage over the past few weeks with juxtapositions of Miles and Saban.
My favorite comparison comes from LSU beat writer Glenn Guilbeau of the Shreveport Times, who wrote Miles vs. Saban is like Jimmy Stewart vs. Clint Eastwood, because Miles will make you his friend while Saban is likely to draw down on you.
The Mad Hatter’s swashbuckling style has been the subject of heated debate in Baton Rouge ever since he took over in 2005 after Saban infamously took his talents to South Beach. Is he really the only coach in college football who doesn’t feel the pressure? Or is it all an act? Is this guy seriously having that much fun on the sidelines?
Miles’ riverboat gambler’s play calling and questionable clock management have made some LSU fans wary of him. But, if he were to bring an undefeated Tigers team back from Tuscaloosa, he might finally earn the trust of the Tigers faithful and cement his place as an SEC legend.
Follow along with me as I keep tabs on the Mad Hatter’s hijinks and shenanigans through out the "Game of the Century." Maybe, if we are lucky, we will catch Miles with a face full of Tuscaloosa turf.
