2011 Breeders' Cup Results: My Miss Aurelia Shows Potential to Be Future Star

Michael MillNov 4, 2011

My Miss Aurelia continues to show her potential as a dominant force in the coming years after her victory today in the $2 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies.

My Miss Aurelia came out the gate strong, taking her position in second coming out of the first corner of the one-and-one-sixteenth-mile race.

She made her move on the leader Candrea on the final-quarter pole and had the lead by the final stretch.

From there she pulled away, finishing the race three lengths ahead of Grace Hall by the time the fillies reached the line.

The win puts the two-year-old at a career record of 4-0.

This isn't the first talented filly that owner Barbara Banke has had. Just two years ago, she and her late husband Jess Jackson led Rachel Alexandra to four straight Grade 1 victories.

Rachel Alexandra won the 2009 Preakness Stakes, the first filly to win the race in its 85-year history. She also won Horse of the Year honors in 2009.

Now they have another extremely talented filly that will compete in the upcoming years.

This is the second race in a row that My Miss Aurelia has won in convincing fashion.

Her most recent win came in the Belmont Park's Grade 1 Frizette on October 8th. She won that race by five-and-a-half lengths.

It won't be the last time that My Miss Aurelia will find herself a winner. Only time will tell if she has the same ability as Rachel Alexandra.
