2011 Breeders' Cup Favorites: Uncle Mo Leads Classic Cast of Favorites
The Breeders' Cup is off and running. The ladies will make way for a male-dominated day on Saturday when the Classic looms at the end of the day. That is when Uncle Mo joins a few other horses as the obvious choices to come down the stretch with the lead.
We will be railed with hype for the closing moments of this wondrous two-day affair. By midday Saturday, we will want the Classic to finally answer the most pressing question on the weekend.
Here are the horses that you will hear a great deal about. Get used to the sound of their voices as they will no doubt be shouted during the waning moments of the live call of the race.
Uncle Mo
Uncle Mo is going off at 5:2 odds and seems to be everyone's favorite to wager on, as well as discuss. The speedster was dealt a tremendous blow when liver disease caused Uncle Mo to lose a ton of weight putting his career into question.
He is back, but not better than ever. The length of the race is sure to figure heavily into Uncle Mo and his endurance.
Havre de Grace
There is nary a more perfect runner in the two-day event. With Uncle Mo huffing and puffing, Havre de Grace may be the first horse to benefit.
Harve de Grace has had a great year and is going off at 3:1 but a male dominated race may be the reason people will be looking elsewhere for the winner. I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss her.
So You Think
The Australian horse is going off at 5:1 and is as fast as they come. However, he has never run on dirt and will be measured against other horses groomed on the stuff.
Game on Dude
This is my long odds-sleeper of the Classic. Game on Dude may be 10:1 but has the speed and endurance to outlast the field. If you are looking for a long shot to shock the field, this would be the one.
