LSU Football: Why the Tigers, Not Alabama, Will Run the Table

Danny FlynnNov 5, 2011

Tonight, we’ll finally get to see who will emerge as the victor in the big showdown between No. 1 LSU and No. 2 Alabama down in Tuscaloosa.

After weeks of buildup and media hype, college football’s “Game of the Century” will hit the stage, and we’ll get to see if the game lives up to the classic status we’re all expecting.

It may only be November, but this game already has a national championship type of feel, with over 600 media members covering the game and tickets selling for up to $10,000 a pop.

This is the type of rare regular season game that every college football fan, no matter where they live or who they root for, will be tuning in for.

There’s obviously a lot on the line tonight, and while feelings are mixed and opinions are split concerning who’s going to win the game, in my eyes LSU just seems to have the type of swagger and attitude this year to get the job done.

LSU has survived one of college football’s most grueling schedules and they have the type of team that looks like it can handle any pressure-packed environment.

The Tigers are still young and inexperienced in some key spots, but those young players have grown up in a hurry this season, and they’ve got the type of game-changes on both sides of the ball that you look for in a national championship team.

We’ve watched this team slowly round into form after dominating Oregon on opening weekend, and coach Les Miles now has his crew running like a well-oiled machine, playing with the kind of attitude that it takes to beat anybody that steps out on the field with them.

Tonight's battle with Alabama will certainly be a tough test, but this is a team that has all the makings of a true champion. If the Tigers take down the Tide tonight, they'll be on the fast track to New Orleans.
