Week 9 Fantasy Football Rankings: Defenses That Will Dominate

T.J. McaloonNov 4, 2011

The roster spot for special teams and defense always is over looked when you are drafting your team. Yet every week there is a defense or two that comes out and scores more than most of the positional players in fantasy football.

Having a good defense is almost as crucial as having a top-tiered quarterback or an elite running back.

These defenses will score a lot of points this week, while carrying you to a much needed Week 9 fantasy football victory.

Oakland Raiders

All that you need to know about this Oakland Raiders matchup this week is that they are playing the very turnover prone Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos. Oakland will have a huge day this week, racking up the points through interceptions, fumble recoveries and sacks.

They will not get a shut out, but the Raiders will have multiple chances to take an interception back for a touchdown.

San Francisco 49ers

San Francisco, like Oakland, play a very turn over happy quarterback this week going against the Washington Redskins.

This week, the 49ers are an excellent play, as they will score you a lot of points from sacks, an interception or two and have a phenomenal chance at a shut out.

Last week, the Redskins were unable to score against a mediocre defense in the Buffalo Bills. This week, it will be even tougher for this struggling offense to get the ball across the goal line or through the uprights.

Houston Texans

When Houston plays a struggling offense, like against the Tennessee Titans, they have a game where they score near 20 points. In the game against Tennessee, they scored 16 points and against the Indianapolis Colts, they scored 17.

This week, the Texans have a great chance to have a huge day, as they play a Cleveland Browns team that is playing with their third-string running back, which will mean they will have to turn the ball over to their quarterback, Colt McCoy.

Start the Texans with extreme confidence this weekend, as they have a great chance to allow only 3-7 points.

Three defenses that if you pick them up, they will be the tipping point in your game this week.
