2011 Breeders' Cup: Favorite Plum Pretty Is a Lock in Ladies' Classic

Tom LoughreyNov 4, 2011

Last time Plum Pretty was at Churchill Downs racing 1 1/8 miles she won, and it won’t be any different in the Ladies’ Classic tonight at the 2011 Breeders’ Cup.

According to Horse Racing Nation, Plum Pretty was the overwhelming favorite on Monday’s morning line with 2:1 odds. As of now, Breederscupraces.net has her listed with 11:4 odds, which gives her a better payoff should she cross the line first.

On May 6, jockey Martin Garcia rode Plum Pretty to victory in Louisville, KY and the race was the exact same length as today’s Ladies’ Classic, giving Plum Pretty the distinct edge.

It’s Tricky, one of Plum Pretty’s biggest competitors in the race, stole the show at Saratoga in August. She took first in a 1 1/8 mile romp, with Plum Pretty finishing right behind her as the runner-up.

Plum Pretty avenged the loss on the first day of October by beating It’s Tricky at Philadelphia Park.

In another preview of the race, Horse Racing Nation provided this insight.

“At this stage it looks like nine horses will line up in the Friday feature. The pace figures to be provided by Ask the Moon and Plum Pretty. Royal Delta continues to impress clockers at Churchill Downs as she attempts to rebound from a distant place finish behind Havre de Grace in the goo at Belmont.”

Tune in at 7:30 p.m. ET to watch Plum Pretty do her thing at the Ladies’ Classic.
