2011 Breeders' Cup: Game On Dude Has Long Odds but Fantastic Chance to Amaze

The Breeders Cup Classic is being ruled by Uncle Mo, and it's still a couple days from being run. I can't help but think that Game On Dude has everything to make this his race on Saturday. 

Uncle Mo comes in as the odds-on favorite, going off at 5-to-2, with Havre de Grace right behind at a solid 3-to-1.

At first glance, you would think that the two horses would be neck and neck at the finish of the long run. I wouldn't count on it. Uncle Mo may have been in fine form at Belmont Park this summer, but I think the long stretch will still work wonders on his stamina as he continues to rebound from a crippling liver condition. 

Uncle Mo may be the best story heading into the Classic, but all signs point to the horse being a giant let down as the hype continues to build. I also hate him coming from the 12th post, exacerbating him getting into prime real estate at the start. He will need to use a lot of energy to get to the front of the pack early. 

Game On Dude by comparison is a great bet as far as odds are concerned. At 10-to-1, the older male is in fine form, and his legacy tells you that big things are in store for Saturday. Game On Dude has finished first or second in eight of his 13 career races. You can bet that a horse ridden by Chantal Sutherland will be in the mix late as the horse comes around to finish. 

The eight post is even better as Game on Dude has to battle Rattlesnake Bridge and Stay Thirsty from the start. That's a battle I am confident he will win. 

Sutherland is not merely a female looking to be the first to win the Classic. She is an aggressive rider that will bring every last ounce that Game On Dude has in the tank. 

I still like Havre de Grace to be near the top at the finish, but I have a gut feeling that great things lie ahead for Game on Dude. 

Havre de Grace will have to work hard to assert herself amongst the males. It may be asking far too much for the filly in a field of spirited sprinters. This is going to be a close finish that I can hardly wait to see play out. 

In the end, Game On Dude will own the field.
