MMA: 3 Reasons Why Carlos Condit Would Smash Josh Koscheck

Dwight WakabayashiNov 3, 2011

The feud is building between welterweight contenders Carlos "The Natural Born Killer" Condit and Josh Koscheck. The two got intertwined in the circumstances leading up to UFC 137. Koscheck offered to be a late replacement again, but Condit turned the fight down.

Condit's decision to not accept the fight has spawned Koscheck calling him out via Twitter. With "KOS" looking to stay relevant in the welterweight division, and Condit was the man next in line for the title, it is natural for Koscheck to call out The Killer.

My message to Koscheck is be careful what you wish for.

Here are three reasons why Carlos Condit would smash Josh Koscheck.

Carlos Condit Is Mad as Hell

1 of 3

You don't want to piss off a "Killer," and with what has happened to Condit in the last few weeks, there is no question that he is an angry man right now. Usually when that is the case, a fighter zones in and take out all his anger and aggression on the next poor chap he has to face.

I'm sure in this case, Condit truly wants that to be GSP. But if Koscheck keeps poking and prodding like he can and is, I see Condit making him pay and proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is the No. 1 contender to the welterweight crown.

Josh Koscheck Has Hit His Peak as a Fighter

2 of 3

Josh Koscheck is 33 years old, and Carlos Condit is 27. I am not saying age would be a factor if these two met in the cage, as Koscheck is still young enough to perform at the highest level. The issue is that fighters must constantly evolve their games, and of the two, Condit is the one in the midst of that evolution. He is developing every day, and we see an improved, different and more dangerous fighter each time we see him fight.

Koscheck must be given a lot of credit for the way he has picked up the skills and excelled in this sport in the very short time he has been in it. He has developed the type of game that has a chance in any fight he is involved in. However, I do think that his potential has already reached its peak at 33 years old and that Condit would expose that in all areas of the cage.

Condit Is Technically Superior, More Well Rounded Fighter

3 of 3

Josh Koscheck has NCAA Division I wrestling pedigree and a powerful, bombing right hand that he has developed in his time as a mixed martial artist. There is no question that he has evolved from a tough wrestler into a top-level mixed martial artist.

Carlos Condit is a "Natural Born Killer," which is to say that he has been a martial artist all his life and his skills in the game are technically superior. His footwork, set-ups, kicks, knees and punches and the way he mixes them all together are what makes him the fighter he is.

On top of all that technical prowess, Condit is one of the smartest fighters in the game today.
