NFL Week 9 Picks: Which Favorites Are Locks to Cover the Spread?
With several teams labeled as big favorites in Week 9, it's unlikely that they will all cover. However, some matchups are too good to pass up on Sunday, and those favorites will certainly cover the spread.
The NFL is never easy to predict, especially this season. Crazy comebacks, large blowouts and nail-biting games keep fans guessing every week.
It's what makes the NFL so exciting—but when you're looking for some extra cash, it can be frustrating. Still, though, every week has the easy plays that nobody is avoiding.
Here are three favorites that are locks to cover the spread.
Atlanta -7
The Falcons hit the road to take on the lowly Indianapolis Colts, and only being favored by a touchdown is an insult. The Colts are a bad team, and because the Falcons are coming off a bye, they will be ready to dominate.
There is the chance that the Falcons believe they have the victory before the game ever starts, which would hurt them, but their offense is too good for the struggling Colts to stop.
The Colts have played much better at home this season, but being 2-6 ATS and 0-8 on the year hinders them from being competitive in Sunday's game.
Prediction: Falcons 31, Colts 16
Dallas -11.5
The Cowboys will turn things around after being embarrassed by the Eagles last Sunday night. They host the slumping Seattle Seahawks, and there is no way the Cowboys will let this be a close game.
Dallas has had its rough patches this season, as well as some really good times. However, after laying an egg in primetime, Bob Ryan's defense will shut down the Seahawks, who rank 31st in the NFL in total offense.
The Cowboys need to make a statement win on Sunday, and the poor Seahawks will be the victims of another blowout.
Prediction: Cowboys 38, Seahawks 9
Green Bay -5.5
The Packers are well rested after their bye week, and they're headed out west to take on a depleting San Diego Chargers team.
You would have thought the Chargers would have been favorites for this game, but their 2011 season hasn't quite been what they had hoped for. There is still time to get back on track, but San Diego is about to suffer its third straight loss.
The Chargers desperately need a victory, but nobody is stopping Aaron Rodgers right now. Norv Turner's hot seat will continue to boil.
Prediction: Packers 30, Chargers 21
