Tim Tebow: A Step Out Of The Spotlight

Arguably the greatest player in college football history. The winner of the Maxwell Award, the Davey O'Brien Award, and the Heisman Trophy. An All-American, AP Player of the Year, SEC's Offensive Player of the Year, and the SEC's Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Meet Tim Tebow

In Tebow's first year as a starting quarterback, he broke the SEC's all-time record for both rushing touchdowns and total touchdowns accounted for in a single season. He became the first sophomore to ever win the Heisman Trophy and has potential to repeat.

This athlete possesses unimaginable talents that put him above all others. But what is so often unrevealed within this 21-year-old's life is the passion he carries on a daily basis.

Tebow isn't just an All-American football player at the University of Florida or the Heisman Trophy winner—he's more.

Tebow's passion and desire seen on the football field is incomparable and not seen by many. Born and raised in a Christian family, Tebow has a desire to be more than just a quarterback. "I want to be an example for everyone, not just football fans." Tebow is blessed beyond words—and he realizes it.

"God gave me this gift for a reason," Tebow says. "There's a sense of purpose in everything I do. It's not me in control; He is. There's a great amount of comfort knowing that."

Never in my life have I witnessed a man more mature not only as a football player, but as a Christian. Tim Tebow is truly an example for all us.

In the offseason, instead of preparing for the upcoming season, Tebow decided to pursue a different path: a mission's trip to his birthplace, the Philippines. Tebow communicated with heads of state, preached to prisoners, and, yes, circumcised young children. Please tell me how many college athletes with fame such as Tebow's would pursue such a mission?

Prior to the season Tim Tebow was nominated as a Preseason All-American by Playboy magazine. Tebow declined the offer because of his deep religious views. How many athletes have declined such an offer? I'd like to think none.

Tim Tebow is the Ultimate Christian Athlete in every aspect. Tebow is an example for all, including myself. If this guy never upholds a successful NFL career, I won't care. He has done more than enough to be considered one of my favorite players of all time, and that won't change.
