Rams vs. Cardinals: TV Schedule, Live Streaming, Radio, Game Time and More

Michael DixonNov 2, 2011

Two of the NFC West's most disappointing teams will take the field on Sunday when the St. Louis Rams travel west to take on the Arizona Cardinals.

Both teams enter the game with 1-6 records. St. Louis lost its first six games, but pulled a shocking win over the Saints last weekend. On the other end of the spectrum is the Cardinals, who won their first game of the season but have dropped their last six games.

The two teams split their two meetings in 2010, with each team winning on the road. The Rams beat the Cardinals 19-6 in Arizona.

Betting Line

Cardinals (-2.5), according to footballlocks

Unless you have a really strong hunch in this one, I would suggest that you stay away from this one.

But if you must bet, take the underdog. I think the Rams are the better team and even though a four-point Cardinals win wouldn't surprise me, I don't have any confidence in that happening.

What's at Stake?

Very little. If you believe that the 49ers are going to collapse, then the NFC West is wide open. If that happens, this game will carry a lot of weight.

But the 49ers have a four-game lead in the NFC West and five games over both the Rams and Cardinals. This game has more ramifications on the beginning of April's draft than it does the playoffs.

Rams' Injury Report

Rams WR Mark Clayton (knee, Achilles) is out.

Rams WR Danario Alexander (hamstring), and QB Sam Bradford (ankle) are questionable.

Cardinals' Injury Report

Cardinals QB Kevin Kolb (turf toe), LB Joey Porter (knee), and TE Todd Heap (hamstring) are questionable.

Cardinals RB LaRod Stephens-Howling (shoulder), and RB Beanie Wells (knee) are probable.

Fantasy Start 'Em, Sit' Em and Sleeper

Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald is a must start player. He's arguably the game's best WR and going against a secondary that's just not that good.

Rams WR Brandon Lloyd is a solid play. The Cardinals have had a hard time matching up to opposing receivers this year.

Keep an eye on Beanie Wells. If he plays, he's in a good matchup.

What They're Saying

Craig Vonder Harr of the Missourian noted that quarterback A.J. Feeley was ecstatic to lead his team to its first victory of the season in Sunday's shocking win of the Saints.

"

“It feels good to get a win. It’s credit to the guys on defense and to the guys in the front because they made this whole thing happen for us...It was good to see everything we’ve done from training camp and what we’ve been doing every week and keep talking about. We’ve got to put the pieces together and everyone do their job and do it with confidence. You could see some of the young guys arrive and kind of get a flow of the offense and a feel for it. The running game was spectacular.”

"

Bob McManaman of the Arizona Republic noted that while Kolb is officially listed as questionable, he's far closer to doubtful at this point. He also mentions that the injury is only one part of Kolb's nightmare season.

"

It’s bad enough for the Cardinals, losers of six consecutive games, but it could be a lot worse for Kolb. He’s been sacked 24 times already this season, the second most in the NFL behind Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger (25).

Kolb has thrown as many interceptions as he has touchdowns, eight, and the sacks are piling up faster than the losses and the disappointment.

"

Rams Player to Watch

Keep an eye on defensive end Chris Long. If he can pressure Kolb, or whomever the Cardinals quarterback is, consistently, the Rams should pull the road win off.

Cardinals Player to Watch

Steven Jackson will also be important for the Rams. So, it will be important for safety Adrian Wilson to keep him in check, as well as to shut the passing game down and make the Rams one-dimensional.

Key Matchup

Long and the Rams defensive line vs. the Cardinals offensive line. The winner of this battle will win this game, and probably win it pretty easily.

On the Hotseat

A case could be made that both Steve Spagnuolo and Ken Whisenhunt are on the hot seat, but I think the Rams 2010 season was good enough to earn Spagnuolo another season.

Given what the Cardinals did in the offseason to improve their team, it's hard to see Whisenhunt surviving this season without a very strong second half.

Prediction

Normally, my gut would say to go with the home team, but I am much more inclined to go with the Rams, who I feel are the better team in this one.
